CDA cannot cancel a plot without solid reasons: SC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has sought reply from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) within 15 days on the allotment of plots in Sahiwal as alternate to land in the capital. A three-member bench of the SC led by Justice Nasirul Mulk took up the case for hearing on Wednesday. He remarked, “On what grounds have the CDA cancelled the farmhouse plot after payment? The CDA is not entitled to cancel this plot without solid reasons.” Justice Ejaz Chaudhry remarked, “The CDA officials are bound to discharge their obligations as per the CDA rules and regulations. Why was the record not reviewed before the allotment of the plot? he asked. The CDA former officer appeared before the court, while Advocate Nazir Bhutta represented the petitioner. The officer told the court that no alternate land had been allotted to the complainant. The court directed him to ascertain from the Sahiwal administration if any allotment of the land had been made to the petitioner. The court ordered that reply be filed within two weeks.
