LDA seals 31 buildings

LAHORE: A team of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed on Thursday 31 buildings, including four schools, for defaulting on commercialisation fees.

One of the four schools was reportedly sealed in Johar Town at a time when students were present. However, a spokesman for the LDA rejected the report, saying the properties were sealed at about 6am.

"Schools were sealed at 6am too," he said, adding a private TV channel, with the connivance of the school administration, got some students into the school at 8am.

He said the LDA team sealed schools in the morning so that students returned homes rather than facing inconvenience.

He said defaulters had also been issued notices repeatedly before the action. He said the LDA also broke the seals of 14 properties, including a school, after their owners deposited the fee.

DENGUE: Town municipal administrations (TMAs) of the city carried out extensive dengue surveillance of 309 wedding halls and fumigated them, according to a TMA spokesman.

Data Ganj Bakhsh Town covered 34 halls, Wagah Town 24, Shalimar Town 65, Iqbal Town 43, Nishtar Town 11, Gulberg 30, Ravi Town 32, Samanabad 25, and Aziz Bhatti Town 45 halls.

MAPs: A City District Government of Lahore's high level design committee approved maps of two commercial and two residential buildings in the city.
