Bidding for a section of Islamabad metro bus on 6th

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has set May 6 as new bidding date for one of the sections of Metro Bus Project in Islamabad.

The bidding was scheduled to be held on April 30 but postponed after one of the bidders, Habib Rafique Limited, moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the provincial government’s decision to blacklist the company and got a stay and the court is likely to give its decision on May 5.

In Islamabad, the work for the project was divided in five sections from Faizabad to Pakistan Secretariat.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) opened bids for Islamabad section on April 10 and finalised five firms, Habib Rafique Limited Construction Company, NLC, two separate joint ventures of Turkish and Chinese companies, one local joint venture Maksons, MAL-Calsons and a Chinese firm, for the project.

RDA canceled the contract given Habib Rafique Limited Construction Company for the section from Centaurus Mall to Shaheed-i-Milat Road after the issue of its being blacklisted came to light. The firm has been blacklisted for three years by Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 for not completing a project in Lahore on stipulated time frame.
