Qainchi flyover to open soon
LAHORE
QAINCHI Flyover, which will provide signal-free link among Walton, DHA and Ferozpur Road, is near its completion as Lahore Development Authority (LDA) staff and its contractors are working in double shifts to complete it till the end of this month.
LDA officials said the project was started on February 7, 2014 and almost had been completed in 70 days at an estimated cost of Rs 700 million. They said the project was designed for both light and heavy traffic.
Total length of the flyover is 872 metres, they said, adding that no private land was acquired for this project, whereas LDA did not get a single penny from the Lahore Cantonment Board for this project.
LDA officials said that according to calculations, around 150,000 vehicles would use this flyover daily. This flyover will save the travel time of every vehicle by 10 minutes, which will result in saving fuel cost worth Rs 15 million per day. They said the Punjab chief minister would inaugurate the project very soon.
