Crackdown on illegal commercial properties

LAHORE

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is planning a massive crackdown on illegal commercial properties in coming days.

LDA officials said a large number of residential properties had been converted into commercial buildings across the provincial capital without getting approval of the authority. Sources said LDA had recently opened commercialisation and urged users to immediately apply for commercialisation of properties, failing which their premises would be sealed. Officials said a special desk had been established at One-Window Cell, LDA to facilitate applicants. They said annual commercialisation permission would be permissible for a period of 10 years till 2014 and be renewable on a yearly basis. Commercialisation fee will be charged annually @ 1.25pc of the commercial value of the property which would be payable in lump sum or in two equal instalments, officials said adding application for annual commercialisation should be addressed to Director Commercialization, LDA along with a copy of the CNIC, ownership documents, NOCs from neighbours and a statement mentioning intended commercial use of the premises along with a pay order of Rs5,000 processing fee of the application.
