LAHORE: Thousands of allottees of LDA Avenue-I Housing scheme will have to wait for some more days to get physical possession by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) as the departments concerned are not ready to start the process without a proper SOP. According to LDA sources, the authority had announced to give possession of plots, carved on 69 per cent clear area of LDA Avenue-I, to the allottees from March 31, but now the process to hand over possession has been delayed for some days.
The sources said the delay was aimed at preparing an effective procedure to avoid inconvenience for people in future. Plots in LDA Avenue -I were allotted to the government servants in 2002-03 and scheduled to hand over to the allottees in 2006 but due to large number of litigation cases and land grabbing, the owners are still waiting for possession.
The sources said after finalizing the standard operating procedure (SOP) within a couple of weeks, LDA will seek applications from the allottees for taking possession alongwith all documents concerned. The applicants seeking possession of their plots will have to deposit Rs 10,000 per kanal as processing fee. After completing all procedures under the SOP, plots would be handed over to the allottees along with building period for three years up to April 2017. Such chunks of land measuring 500 kanals, which had been grabbed but later retrieved by the LDA, would also be handed over to the allottees, the sources said.
