ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) director (Urban Planning) to remove all encroachments by Zeb Gohar, spouse of former National Assembly speaker, and submit a compliance report to the IHC registrar within four days.

The IHC single bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Munir Paracha, issued the directive on an appeal filed by Zubaida Shair Muhammad, a resident of Sector F-8/1, through Advocate Kowkab Iqbal.

The petitioner told the court that the respondent had illegally occupied a green plot adjacent to her residence by erecting bamboo fence and iron slabs and then constructing garage and servant quarters.

She said the illegal constructions had denied public access to the area and digging around the place led to accumulating rainwater that inconvenienced neighbourhood.

Her counsel contended the CDA had allowed residents only to plant flowers on vacant green plots around their residences and any encroachment was against its laws. He said in the past the CDA was asked to inspect the place and inform the court about its findings, but it had not complied with the court’s orders so far.
