LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that improving living standard of the masses and bringing deprived segments of the society into mainstream of development is the mission of the PML-N government. He said that the journey of progress, started by his government during the last tenure, is being maintained by the present government with renewed spirit and determination. He said the glorious public-welfare projects like metro bus are also being started in other cities. He said that foundation-stone of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus project will be laid on February 28 while planning has also been made for starting this service in Multan and Faisalabad.
The CM said this while talking to assembly members of various districts who called on him here on Thursday. The Chief Minister said that service to the masses is the mission of Muslim League-N and it is vigorously implementing the agenda of public service. He said that coal-based power projects will start generation of electricity within next three to five years due to which economy will flourish, industrial and agriculture sectors would develop and besides new job opportunities will be created.
He said that Punjab government is setting up two coal power plants of 660 megawatts with its own resources. He said that project of generation of electricity from coal will prove to be a milestone in coping with the energy shortage problem and would leave a positive impact on national economy. The Assembly members included Mehdi Abbas Khan, Arif Mahmood Gull, Iffat Meraj Awan, Ghazali Saleem Butt, Khurram Abbas Sayal and Mehr Muhammad Fayyaz.
