ISLAMABAD: The construction of the Margalla Avenue Bypass has been delayed due to ill-conceived planning and negligence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The contract for the construction of the 5.8 kilometre-long avenue from Sector D-12 to B-17 was given for Rs 6 million on which work was to be initiated in June 2012. The project to be completed in June 2013 remains under construction. It faced several problems such as an allotment issue raised on the two-kilometre area on which one year was spent to make new allotments. Only 48 per cent work has been completed, while 90 per cent earthwork on the six-kilometre portion has been completed, but the CDA and the construction firm have failed in solving the issue of performance bond yet
