Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday retrieved over 44 kanals of land located adjacent to Park Road near Shahzad Town from ‘land mafia’.

The massive operation was launched by a joint team of enforcement wing and Islamabad Police, led by Director Enforcement Malik Muhammad Iqbal.

The CDA land in Chatta Bakhtawar area near Shahzad Town was in possession of ‘land mafia’ headed by a person namely Shah. In the past also, the CDA enforcement wing made two attempts to vacate the land, but returned after strong resistance and firing from the ‘land mafia’.

A CDA official told ‘The News’ that luckily, the enforcement team and Islamabad Police comprising over 100 personnel faced no resistance. “The land mafia was selling the land after dividing it into residential plots,” he said.The CDA management ordered operation on received orders from the Islamabad High Court, the CDA sources said.
