Hasty Development Of Housing Colonies – 80% Agricultural Land Of The City Died Out

Lahore – Owing to the rushed development of residential societies, 80% of agricultural land in Lahore has been destroyed.

Concerns regarding the paucity of eatables have risen due the destruction of agricultural land.

According to an investigation report, there was an agricultural area of 10 lac kanals in the city and the vegetables from this agricultural acreage were not only distributed in Lahore but also to the vegetable markets of Kasur, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.

In the recent ten years, Land Mafia has developed housing societies on a massive agricultural acreage. Moreover, the government did not lag behind in this race and it also developed residential societies on the agricultural land.

Currently, 2 governmental and 13 private schemes are being developed on 1 lac kanal agricultural area. It is being expected that because of the lost self-sufficiency in the production of vegetables, the Lahore city will face difficulties in its vegetable markets.

Pakistan, which was known as 70% agricultural country, now plummets to 50% in this regard.
