Lahore High court’s Justice Nasir Saeed has filed a petition against the imposition of Luxury Tax on houses bigger than 2 Kanal. He issued notices to the DG excise department and the Government of Punjab. He has asked for a reply or an active response by 5th September. The petition stated that the people are already paying levied property taxes; even then the government has imposed additional luxury taxes.

It further stressed that it was against the law to impose two taxes simultaneously as it was written in law not to impose two kinds of property taxes, therefore on of the levied taxes should be revoked. The barrister also mentioned in the petition that it seemed that only a few specific areas were targeted and therefore notices should be issues and action should be taken by the high court until the imposition of luxury tax is banned.
