Punjab being the agricultural hub of the province expects a certain amount of rain every year. Yet every year the people of Punjab face the same issues. This year brought even more mayhem as record stormy hails were experienced in Lahore. Most of the governmental, commercial and residential property was flooded with water, which resulted in loss, worth of thousands of rupees for both merchants and residents.

Residential property in Lakshamee Chowk, Davis Road, Station, Laree Adda, Data Darbar, Misree Shah went under 3 foot water with water flooding the houses as well as the house hold goods. Even the posh areas were flooded with waters and cars got jammed and halted on the roads. Many citizens left their vehicles in the water. The monsoon ripped off the ‘good governance’ claim of the authorities, as WASA failed to drain the water from the roads and properties.

Many traders, who took a holiday on the Independence Day, had to rush back to their shops as they heard that their commercial property was being hit by massive monsoon. The transportation sector was hit badly by water collection on the roads. The Punjab Civil Sectariat ‘s roof kept leaking, many roofs of the residential areas fell through killing 8 people in various places of Lahore. Some people got electrocuted with low hanging wires and injured around 40 people.
