Islamabad—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) directed contractors of Kashmir Highway project to speed up the construction work. Talking to APP, the CDA spokesperson said that expansion work of Kashmir highway would be completed by December this year.

He said the Kashmir Highway would be widened to five-lanes from existing two lanes on both sides. The project was estimated to cost Rs 4.8 billion and the expansion work was started in February 2012, he maintained.

Spokesperson said the construction work on new Islamabad Airport would complete by next year. With operational of the airport and expansion of residential sectors/housing societies, woul increase the traffic volumes. Keeping in view the above, the CDA has started the work on construction of widening of the Kashmir Highway, he added.
