Islamabad : The board of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday constituted half a dozen committees for implementation of the recommendations of a judicial commission into irregularities and corrupt practices in the authority’s affairs.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week made public the report of the commission, it constituted to investigate the alleged irregularities in the affairs of the CDA.

The commission headed by Justice ® Sardar Raza Khan examined a number of projects and recommended disciplinary action against the delinquent officers.

The judicial commission examined many cases pertaining to construction of additional and illegal block in Park Tower, allotment of land in Lake View Park, Monal Restaurant, illegal appointments in CDA during PPP tenure etc.

The judicial commission had also recommended that the CDA board members should be appointed according to their professional qualification and experience in the related field.

The CDA sources said the issue of judicial commission’s report was discussed in detail during the board meeting.

A senior officer of CDA, however, told ‘The News’ that heads of some committees would not be able to do justice with their job due to many reasons. “The CDA management will be in trouble if any attempt is made to misguide the Islamabad High Court with regard to implementation of commission’s report,” the official said.

The CDA board also okayed re-structuring of authority’s restructuring wing. Under the restructuring plan, a new directorate in estate management would be created to deal with problem relating to upcoming residential sectors.

Presently, there are two directorates of estate management dealing separately with commercial and residential property matters.

The new directorate would ensure keeping possession of land of new sectors once it is taken by the enforcement directorate after paying compensation to the affected people.
