ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed the contractors to speed up the expansion f Kashmir Highway project.


Talking to media, the CDA spokesperson said that expansion work of Kashmir highway would be completed by December this year.
He said the highway would be widened to five-lanes from existing two on either side.

The project was estimated to cost Rs4.8 billion and the expansion work was started in February 2012, he maintained.Spokesperson said the construction work on New Islamabad Airport would complete by next year. With operation of this new airport, expansion of residential sectors/housing societies, traffic from Peshawar and Islamabad Motorway increased traffic volumes will be generated on the Kashmir Highway.

Keeping in view the above, the CDA has started the work on construction of widening of the Kashmir Highway, he added.
