The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is carrying out restoration, development and beautification of the Jubilee Park in Sector F-7 of the federal capital and up gradation of all the basic facilities at Muslim Colony on priority basis.

During his visit to the Jubilee Park in Sector F-7 and Muslim Colony, near Barri Imam shrine, CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz, said that the authority is taking concrete measures for development, maintenance and up gradation of parks to provide the best recreational facilities to the residents of the federal capital.

On this occasion, CDA Member Administration, Munir Ahmad Chaudhry, Member Environment, Dr. Kazim Niaz, Director General Environment, Dr. Suleman Sheikh and senior officers of the authority were also present.

He said the CDA has launched a comprehensive programme for the up-gradation and development of the parks and recreational facilities in the federal capital to further beautify the natural environment of the city. As part of the plan, CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz directed the Environment Wing of the authority to expedite the development work at Jubilee Park in Sector F-7.

This is the same general public park where the civic body about years back had allowed a private firm to raise a mini golf course along with commercial activities through a lease agreement. The lease agreement was challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the chief justice directed the authority to demolish the structure raised by the private party and restore the park to its shape and take action against responsible officials.

However, it took seven years to implement directives and the incumbent chairman started implementing directives of the apex court and now the development work at site of the Jubilee Park is in full swing.

The CDA chairman also directed the concerned officials to gear up the awareness activities for cleanliness, improvement of sewage system and up-gradation of environment in Islamabad, especially in Muslim Colony near the shrine of Barri Imam.

He said that the work being carried out for the development of Jubilee Park in Sector F-7 is satisfactory, but should be further expedited for completion of this recreational facility to facilitate the residents at the earliest. He was apprised of the progress on the development work being carried out in the park and the facilities to be developed for the public.

He said that banners, posters and other awareness material should be displayed in Muslim Colony and adjoining areas for environmental awareness.

He also directed the Member Administration to make appropriate arrangements for cleaning of the solid waste skips in this area. He also directed for resolving the issues of sewerage system in Muslim Colony.

The CDA chairman was apprised of different measures being taken out by the authority for cleanliness and improvement of the sewerage system in Muslim Colony. He was apprised that construction of soaks and other arrangements have been made in this locality to discourage the flow of sewage into adjoining nullahs.
