ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has so far collected Rs478 million on account of registration to provide housing facility to employees.

The membership drive was launched with the approval of the prime minister three years back and so far 20,148 employees from BS-1 to BS-22 have been registered.

An official at the Ministry of Housing on Monday said the collected amount had been utilised to make initial payment to purchase land for the proposed housing scheme at Bhara Kahu, CDA Zone-IV.

He said with regard to the proposed housing scheme at Bhara Kahu, work plan on the launch of the scheme has been completed and submitted to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for No-Objection Certificate (NoC). But due to suo motu notice on the above mentioned scheme, the matter is still under consideration before the court.

Applications have also been invited from employees and the public for apartments scheme in sectors G-13 and G-14.

The project will be completed in 48 months after the launch.

Moreover, the official said summary for allocation of the CDA sector, F-14, had been resubmitted to the ministry.

The foundation has been unable to launch any scheme after 2005 because the CDA could not provide any land for development.

However, the housing foundation has recently advertised Expression of Interest (EoI) for joint venture for the new housing and apartments schemes for the federal government employees. The matter is under process
