LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority on Wednesday sealed off three illegal structures constructed on Plot No 534, G-One Block, Johar Town, on account of violation of the conditions of the allotment.

The plot, measuring 18 kanals, had been allotted on reserve price in 1990 to Johar Public School for educational purposes. But the allottee rented it out to Lahore Grammar School against heavy charges in 2009. The act was illegal and a violation of the conditions of the allotment.

He had also not submitted registration certificate issued by the Education Department. The staff of the Town Planning Wing and Estate Management Directorate of LDA sealed three structures set up on the plot on Wednesday. They included Johar Public School, set up on three kanals of land, the residence of the principal of the school, constructed on two kanals and Lahore Grammar School, set up on 15 kanals and four marlas.

The allottee had also illegally included two kanals and four marlas of additional land in the schools and had not sought approval from Town Planning Wing of the LDA for sub-division of the plot.

Meanwhile, LDA said it will not extend permission for annual/ temporary commercialisation on 48 roads, where commercial activity has been allowed on permanent basis, after December 31. The owners and occupants of such properties could, however, get their properties permanently commercialised after payment of the requisite fee.

Notices in this regard were being served to the owners/ occupants of these properties for getting their properties permanently commercialised.

It is to be mentioned that commercial activity had been allowed on the 48 roads, situated in LDA schemes, under Land Use Rules 2009. The authority has also decided not to extend permission for annual/ temporary commercialisation on any road other than the 48 declared roads after December 2012. All sorts of commercial activity will be banned on such roads after this date.
