ISLAMABAD, Nov 26: The city administration and the Capital Development Authority on Monday demolished scores of huts illegally constructed at H-8 sector.

The slum consisting of about 40 huts was razed a month back.

The dwellers of the slum claimed that they had gotten permission from the CDA. They also claimed that a state minister had brought them there and granted them permission to raze the slum. Both the claims could not be verified, however.

When the civic agencies started demolishing the huts, the dwellers staged a protest demonstration.

In response, the administration asked them to come to the magistrate office on Tuesday with those who had brought them there or granted them permission to raze the huts.

About two weeks ago the assistant commissioner of Industrial Area conducted a survey of the area after gating information about the establishment of the illegal slum named Akram Massih Gill Colony.

There were reports that a group had brought the people to the area after getting money from them.
