Rawalpindi : The project of 6th Road flyover would be completed by the end of December this year rather than its deadline of January 10, 2013. The widening of Adiala Road from Kalial Union Council Office to Government Housing Foundation Colony has also been completed.

This was informed in a meeting held in the commissioner’s office with Commissioner (Rawalpindi) Imdadullah Bosal in the chair. The meeting was attended by MPAs Malik Iftikhar Ahmed and Raja Muhammad Hanif, Rawalpindi Development Authority Director General Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, SE Punjab Highways Farhat Munir, SE Buildings Chaudhry Muhammad Azam, SE PHED Salim Raza, XEN Small Dams Haroon Ahmed, Director Colleges Humayun Iqbal, Director Development & Finance Commissioner’s Office Noreen Bashir, EDO Health Dr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal and Deputy MD Wasa Akram Soban.

An amount of Rs8 million would be transferred to Wasa for the shifting sewerage lines from the site of the 6th Road flyover project. The commissioner asked the concerned officials that work on shifting sewerage lines should be started at the earliest to save service roads of the project from erosion.

RDA Director General Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed informed that the study of Nullah Leh project had been started on the orders of the Punjab government and it would be completed soon.

The progress of other ongoing development projects of Punjab Highways, PHED, Wasa and Small Dams was also reviewed. The commissioner directed the concerned authorities to complete these projects within the stipulated time and the progress report should be submitted to him by December 1. “Stern action will be taken against contractors found indulged in any malpractices,” he warned.
