Islamabad : National Assembly on Tuesday passed bills for abolition of all discretionary quotas in housing schemes in the public sector. The Abolition of Discretionary Quotas in Housing Schemes Bill 2011 moved by Zahid Hamid of PML-N on private members day was not opposed by the government.
The aimed at abolishing discretionary quotas in housing schemes in public sector which are susceptible to misuse and instead to require that allotments be made in a fair, equitable and transparent manner. However, some exemptions have been recorded in the bill to benefit widows, heirs of martyrs and those employees who suffer disabilities during service.
