ISLAMABAD – Residents of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have demanded of Chairman, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Syed Tahir Shahbaz to complete the construction of the Margalla Avenue project according to the schedule.

According to sources, the CDA could not still resolve the problem of occupation of land for the construction of Margalla Avenue from Sector B-17 to Sector D-12 on GT Road. Only six kilometres of total 11 kilometres land could be occupied, where the construction work is underway, the sources said.

The road has a great importance for the residents of Attock, Hazara and surrounding areas coming to the twin cities, as it is a bypass road for them.

It is relevant to mention here that the construction work on the project was started in June 2012 and according to the contract the road is to be completed in one year. But the work is delayed pertaining to the CDA’s failure to get occupation of the land for the road construction from the land grabbers.

The residents demanded of the CDA chairman to complete the project within one year as announced in the schedule to ensure convenience for the commuters.
