RAWALPINDI – The Benazir Bhutto Road (BBR) has been blocked for all kinds of traffic from Rehmanabad to Faizabad for the construction period of the Rehmanabad Flyover.

In a meeting held to discuss the construction of Rehmnabad Flyover, Chief Traffic officer, Syed Ishtiaq Shah said that the vehicle bazaars organised on Friday were a big hurdle in the smooth flow of traffic. He suggested taking a strict action against the bazaars. Thus the DCO ordered to immediately ban Jumma Bazaar on BB Road under Section 144, saying the police would take strict action against the violators of the ban.

Talking to INP, Ishtiaq Husain said that the traffic could be diverted from Sixth Road to Faizabad for the time being. While, traffic of both the sides of the road would be blocked after a few days.

He further said that chief minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif would inaugurate the construction of the flyover on September 25.

The chief traffic officer appealed to the public to use the alternative routes from Chandni Chowk to avoid inconvenience.

He said road users going to Islamabad should use Saidpur Road and the commuters coming from the federal capital should use Airport and Golra Sharif Raod.

The authorities also decided to initiate a grand operation against the encroachments on Benazir Bhutto Road, Commercial Market, Saidpur Road and Pandora besides on the entire alternative routes of the BB Road.
