Khatm-e-Nabuwat conference banned

LAHORE: Authorities have banned the Khatm-e-Nabuwat conference in Muzaffarabad from taking place in fear of clashes between religious groups, Aaj TV reported. According to the channel, police have arrested ‘dozens’ of leaders and activists of religious organisations, including Tanzeemul Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnah Pakistan chief Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi, Tanzeemul Madaris (Azad Kashmir) President Syed Nazir Hussain Gilani and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Vice President Syed Shabeer Shah, to stop them from holding or participating in the conference, which was to be held in Goi near the Tatapani area of Azad Kashmir. Police have also stopped caravans of people from entering Kotly.

The conference has been banned under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the channel quoted the authorities concerned as saying. daily times monitor
