Raiwind gets tehsil status

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced status of tehsil for Raiwind and said it would lead to availability of latest facilities to the residents whereas the pace of development would also accelerate in the area.
The chief minister made this announcement at his Tent Office, while addressing a large number of citizens of Raiwind as well as office-bearers and workers of PML-N on Thursday.
The chief minister also heard problems of the people of the area and ordered redressal of their grievances on priority basis. He said Model Bazaar of Raiwind would be completed till Eid, which would be inaugurated by him. He also ordered immediate closure of illegal private market in the area. He directed that feasibility of constructing underpass for the facility of the citizens, near Basti Aminpura should be reviewed, and a report be submitted to him at the earliest.
Upon the complaint of the citizens, the chief minister directed Secretary Irrigation to take effective steps to put an end to water theft for which the secretary should himself visit the canal. The chief minister also directed Lahore commissioner to acquire land for a graveyard besides constructing boundary wall around the old graveyard. He also ordered construction of sports and cricket grounds to promote sports in the area, for which the PHA DG ought to initiate speedy construction work in this regard.
Shahbaz Sharif also ordered shifting of bus stand, outside Raiwind, and said traffic system in the Raiwind city, especially near the Tableeghi Markaz should be further streamlined. Taking strict notice of complaints of Raiwind residents regarding water supply and sewerage scheme, the chief minister ordered immediate inquiry into the matter, and assured that the responsible elements would be brought to book.
On the demand of the citizens, Shahbaz Sharif directed Lahore Transport Company to start operating air-conditioned buses in Raiwind, within seven days. He ordered speedy construction of link road, from Milad Chowk to Raiwind, and asked Secretary Communication & Works to personally review the project and submit a report in this regard. He disclosed that a comprehensive policy for granting proprietary rights to the residents of Katchi Abadis had been formulated, and this issue would be resolved soon.
With regard to stopping sewage seeping from Sundar Industrial Estate into adjoining areas, the chief minister directed the commissioner to install treatment plant in Sundar Estate besides taking other necessary steps to safeguard adjoining areas from the contaminated water. He also directed provision of sufficient quantity of medicines to Rural Health Centre Manga, alongwith solving the sewerage problems of villages Charsuddawala and Talab Saray.
The chief minister warned government officers to mend their ways and solve the problems of the masses at the grass root level. He said complaints of the common man should be addressed at the police station and kutchehry level while elected representatives should keep a close liaison with the people of their areas to solve their problems. He said any officer, not serving the people, would not be tolerated.
