‘CDA to launch development projects’

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority Farkhand Iqbal on Tuesday said that CDA is going to launch different projects including water and transport system in the federal capital.Talking to State TV, he said that an agreement was signed with China to provide 200 million gallon water per day to Islamabad.

He said that availability of water in the federal capital was 120 million gallons per day while demand was almost 150 million gallons.He said that Chinese team will work on the water project.

The chairman said that design and lay-out have been prepared, adding that work on the project would be started in the coming September.

Replying to a question, Farkhand Iqbal said "We are changing the old system with new water pumps to save the energy and increase the level of water."

He said that CDA also working on a project of transport system to facilitate the public of the capital.He said that there is need of 200 buses for launching the project which would ply on three major routes of the twin cities.The Chairman CDA said that different companies have shown interest in these projects.Replying to another question he said "We had carpeted the roads in F-8 sector, Abpara and Melody areas of Islamabad to facilitate the people."
