Govt to curb hoarding: DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said the government was committed to curbing hoarding of essential items with an iron hand. He deputed Sub-Registrars to check the hoarding. Mubashar-ur-Rehman is deputed at Ravi Town, Asif Shah at Aziz Bhatti Town and Tahira Akram at Nishtar Town. DCO directs officers to leave no stone unturned to stop the hoarding because it is a root cause of artificial price-hike. Expressing deep regret over hoarding, he said the holy month of Ramazan meant for winning the goodwill of Allah but certain traders rather forget Allah and His people.

Meanwhile, Price Control Magistrates conducted 216 raids, challanned 33 shopkeepers, registered FIRs against five profiteers and imposed fine up to Rs.35000. The DCO further informed the media that 118 free Aftaar Dastar Khawans were being arranged at different places of the city. About 17,938 male and female have been served food at these Dastar Khawans so far.

Action against flour mill: Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa said provision of daily-use items at quality and affordable rates have been ensured for citizens in Ramazan bazaars. During visits to Ramazan bazaars set up at Model Town, Wahdat Colony, Johar Town, Samanabad, Gulshane Ravi, Islampura along with MNA Bilal Yasin, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Food, Secretary Industry, Commissioner Lahore Division and DCO, he inspected various stalls and inquired about rates from buyers.

At Wahdat Colony bazaar, Khosa found the weight of atta bags and sugar bags less than standard. The Commissioner Lahore Division directed to register a case against the shopkeeper, while Director Food Punjab directed the truck carrying less weight atta bags back and asked for a new truck.

He also ordered immediate closure of the concerned flour mill, which was sending atta bags with less weight to Ramazan Bazaars. Talking to media, Khosa said the Punjab government was monitoring provision of edibles to the citizens at Ramazan Bazaars at the fixed rates and quality. He said all officers present on the duty at Ramazan Bazaars had been asked to submit their suggestions regarding provision of inexpensive and quality edibles, so that system could be further improved.
