Housing Ministry asked to expedite work on ongoing projects

Islamabad—Federal Minister for Housing Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai has said that Housing Ministry is fully dedicated and sincere in its efforts to rectify the accommodation problems of the masses and provide them all basic necessities of life.

He was chairing a high level meeting of Board of Directors (BoD) of Pakistan Housing Authority held here on Tuesday to review the progress over various projects of PHA.

The meeting was informed by Managing Director of PHA; R.B.Phulpoto about the development status of Housing scheme for Federal Government Officers at Kurri road, Islamabad; the matter of cost and time overrun on 7 ongoing PHA Projects (“C” type apartments in G-11/3, “E” type apartments in G-11/3, Infrastructure works in G-11/3, Shops near UET Lahore, “D” type apartments in Wafaqi Colony Lahore, “E” type apartments in Wafaqi Colony Lahore, “D” type apartments in G-10/2); and matter regarding 1-16/3 low cost housing project.

Federal Minister instructed to submit clear cut completion time frame of each project and a road map along with progress report of all ongoing projects of PHA. A consensus was made that an inquiry would be conducted by FIA to decide either the amount paid and payable against work done over 7 ongoing projects of PHA should be regularized or not.

After having detailed deliberations over the meeting points, Federal Minister for Housing Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai directed that marketing and engineering wings need to be strengthened, moreover, a lawyers’ wings should be established to deal with legal aspect of different projects.

The Federal Minister expressing concern over the speed of work on on-going projects by PHA, instructed to take immediate measures to expedite the pace on the projects to facilitate allottees.
