‘NHA playing key role in socio-economic uplift’

ISLAMABAD - NHA Chairman Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi has said that the National Highways is playing a key role in socio-economic uplift besides forging inter-provincial harmony. Timely and quality construction of projects is main objective of the authority” He was expressing views on his inspection tour to various highway projects in Punjab & Sindh Provinces.
Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi said, “The NHA attaches great importance to highway building schemes throughout the country” Speaking about projects in Punjab, he said, work on 26 projects amounting to Rs. 149 billion was in progress in Punjab. Muzaffargarh highway, Moosa Pak Shaheed Bridge, Head Muhammad Wala Bridge and six interchanges in Multan City had been completed. Work on Faisalabad-Gojra and Khanewal-Multan sections of M-4 was also in progress at cost of Rs. 23 billion. Construction of M-4 would open new avenues of development in Southern Punjab. He said “NHA is building Benazir Bhutto Bridge at Nishtar Ghat on Indus, Sultan Bahu Bridge on Chenab. Upgradation of Lahore-Gujranwala highway up to 6-Lane and Khyali Chowk Flyover projects are also among priorities of NHA in Sindh.”
Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi said work on 17 projects amounting to Rs. 78 billion was also in progress. These developmental schemes included Larkana-Mohenjodaro, Hyderabad-Badeen- Qazi Ahmad Aamri Bridge, Larkana-Qambar-Shahdadkot, Sehwan-Ratodero, Sukkur-Shikarpur-Jacobabad and Lyari Expressway. District Larkana and surrounding areas were being linked up under Larkana Package, he added.
