PM's S. Punjab uplift package to be completed by year end: NHA

MULTAN (APP): National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi said on Friday that the Prime Minister's development package for southern Punjab would be completed by the year end.
Chairing a high level meeting at the circuit house here, the NHA Chairman said that all the required funds have been allocated in the budget 2012-13 that leaves no reason for delay in execution and completion of projects.
He observed that the on-going infrastructure uplift would give a new look to Multan city before the next Independence Day.
Commissioner Multan Khurram Agha and other officials of different departments attended the meeting.
Gardezi expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress. He, however, urged officials to inspect the projects' sites daily so that no construction company could resort to delaying tactics.
The NHA Chairman was given detailed briefing on mega projects, including Bosan Road expansion, Naag Shah fly-over, Chowk Rasheedabad fly-over, and others. On public complaints, the chairman NHA warned Turkish company EKO to employ modern machinery and maintain quality of work in accordance with the agreement. Commissioner Khurram Agha informed the chairman NHA that most of the projects would be completed before the forthcoming independence day, August 14, 2012, and no delaying tactics or negligence would be tolerated. Later, the NHA Chairman visited sites of different projects in the city.
