IDWP approves 16 development projects

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) on Monday approved in principal 16 development projects related to health sector, facilities for district courts as well as police and uplift of rural areas.



The formal approval was giving in a meeting chaired by the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Tariq Mahmood Pirzada which was attended among others by DIG, Police (Security Division) Chiefs (PP&H), (DAD), (Health) of Planning and Development Division, Deputy Financial Adviser, Ministry of Interior, Director, Development/ Finance, ICT, SSP( Headquarters) Police Lines, Director, Regional Planning, CDA, Director, E&M development CDA, Director Roads, CDA and officials of ICT Administration.



It was decided that all the schemes considered in the meeting and approved are subject to the final approval of the Secretary, Planning and Development Division.



The schemes approved shall also subject to the rationalization of costs of these schemes and heads of concerned departments would rationalize it in consultation with the Chiefs of Planning and Development Division.



The development projects approved by the IDWP are related to the uplift of rural areas of Islamabad, up-gradation of water supply schemes, pavements of streets, construction of rural roads, construction of boundary wall for the model jail in Sector, H-16, Islamabad, revamping of Islamabad Sports Board, prevention and control of communicable diseases and establishment of seasonal pollen allergy camps, provision of video conferencing facilities for the District and Sessions Divisions (East and West) Islamabad, establishment of court rooms and providing furniture and allied facilities for Session Division and Civil District (East), improvements in the civil defense department, construction of boundary wall of Diplomatic Enclave and construction of residential flats for Islamabad Police in Sector, G-8/4 Islamabad.



Addressing the participants, Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada, said that ICT Administration is giving top priority to the uplift of rural areas of Islamabad and new development projects are being launched to raise the living standard of the people and providing them requisite facilities.



He said that development projects for other related departments were also being launched to provide the requisite facilities to the departments.



After thorough consideration and discussing the details of PC-1 of the development projects, the meeting of IDWP gave the approval of project establishment of court rooms and provision of furniture and other allied facilities for the Session Division and Civil District East, Islamabad, subject to rationalization of estimated cost Rs. 58.798 million.



It was decided that Planning and Development Division would be requested to recommend the Finance Division for approval of funds to complete the project expeditiously. The meeting was informed that 14 court rooms are about to complete by June 30, 2012 and 24 additional court rooms shall also be established for the judicial officers.



The meeting also approved in principal the provision of video conferencing facilities for District and Session Division East and West, Islamabad, each project at a cost of Rs. 15.642 million. However, it was decided to rationalize the cost of project and seeking approval from Planning, Development Division and Finance Division. The meeting also approved the construction of boundary wall around the premises of Model Jail in Sector H-16, Islamabad with estimated cost of Rs. 23.834 million, construction of road from Toheedabad to new Mangial, rehabilitation, improvement of road from Bhara Kau to new Subban estimated cost Rs. 45.054 million, rehabilitation of Sara-e-Kharbuza road with estimated cost Rs. 44.748 million,construction of farm road Tumair with a cost of Rs. 17.850 million, rehabilitation of Jori Rajgan and Sungrial Bhadana Kalan road with estimated cost Rs. 34.574 million,up-gradation of water supply scheme Khana (revised) estimated cost Rs. 33.235 million.construction of road from well to mosque Hamdani Town, street pavements Ali Pur costing Rs. 51.241 million, street pavements at Seri Saral, Pind Sangrial and Mera Badia Rusmat Khan estimated cost Rs. 46.183 million, revamping of Islamabad Sports Board for promotion of sports with estimated cost Rs. 50. 357 million.



These schemes were also approved subject to rationalization of their costs and approval of Planning and Development Division. The meeting also approved the development of Civil Defense Department in ICT subject to rationalization of cost.



The meeting also approved in principal the prevention and control of communicable diseases and establishment of seasonal pollen allergy camps at estimated cost Rs. 58.483 million subject to rationalization of cost of the project. It was decided that Health Department should ensure that the project is not overlapping with CADD project.



The project of boundary wall raising around Diplomatic Enclave estimated cost Rs. 40.819 million was also approved subject to rationalization of cost of project. The meeting also discussed the construction of residential flats (08 Nos- category- three) for police cost Rs. 41.522 million in Sector G-8/4 and residential flats for police (16 Nos- Category- IV) estimated cost Rs. 59.982 million.



It was decided that these schemes would be submitted to CDWP for approval and subject to issuance of policy decision by the Planning and Development Division. The meeting also considered the project of improvement of Mother and Child Healthcare services at three rural health centers and 14 BHUs in rural areas with SAARC development fund. This project was also approved in principal, however, it was decided that it shall be forwarded to the CDWP for approval.
