LDA to widen road from Allama Iqbal Town to Multan Road

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced widening and improvement of four-kilometre-long road from Neelam Block, Allama Iqbal Town to Multan Road, along right side of Kharak Nallah, at a cost of Rs 142.33 million within a period of four months for the daily benefit of almost 50,000 vehicles.

It also announced construction of a community centre in Garden Town, and increase of car-parking fee in the D-Poin Car Parking Plaza at Shah Alam to Rs 30.

The LDA governing body took the decisions on Monday in a special meeting chaired by district co-ordination officer and LDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal.

The meeting decided to construct a community centre on a three-kanal piece of land in Garden Town, at a cost of Rs 183.662 million, within a period of eight months.

The meeting also granted administrative approval for provision of Rs 150.66 million for installation of 250watt sodium lights on 100, 120 and 150-feet-wide main roads of LDA Avenue-I. They also approved development of infrastructure in Block-D of LDA Avenue-I at an estimated cost of Rs 52.897 million within a time period of three months. LDA would also spend Rs 17.5 million on reconstruction of road linking LDA Avenue-I with Jubilee Town.

LDA Vice Chairman Aamir Asgher Dar, DG Ahad Khan Cheema, Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed, WASA MD Dr Javed Iqbal, Chief Town Planner Ch Muhammad Akram, administrators of the nine constituent towns of the city and representatives of the provincial local government attended the meeting.
