TMA launches grand operation against encroachments

* Railways GM declares Pindi Lunda Bazaar security risk

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: The tehsil municipal administration (TMA) on Friday launched a grand operation against encroachers in main market of Dhoke Hassu.
The operation was launched on the special directives of Tehsil Municipal Administrator Anwar Saif Jappa.
According to details, the residents of area complained that the bazaar was full of encroachers; the shopkeepers had set up their businesses on footpaths and were creating hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic, besides posing security risks. TMO Chaudhry Liaquat directed the officials to wipe out encroachment on an urgent basis to facilitate the residents. Taking action, the town officer (regulation) and the staff concerned removed encroachers and confiscated four trucks of goods.
On the other hand, Pakistan Railways General Manager (Operations) Junaid Qureshi on Friday informed the quarters concerned that the ‘Lunda Bazaar’ and a van stand adjoining the Pindi Station was a big ‘security risk’, requesting to take appropriate measures for ensuring foolproof security arrangements at the station. He suggested the immediate removal of ill-organised van stand and the Lunda Bazaar, which is stretched over around one-kilometre along the railway track, to ensure improved security system.
Chairing a meeting, the general manager directed the railway officials to ensure timely departure and arrival of trains, as it would help restore confidence of passengers in the services of Pakistan Railways.
