OPF told to resolve issues delaying housing project

ISLAMABAD - National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis Tuesday directed Overseas Pakistan Foundation to establish a coordination committee in collaboration with Frontier Works Organisation to tackle the issues, delaying development work on OPF Housing Project at Zone-V, Japan Road Islamabad.
The committee chaired by Farhat Muhammad Khan at the site of the housing scheme was attended by MNAs Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Rubina Qaimkhani, Syed Tayab Hussain, Molvi Agha Muhammad and Engineer Muhammad Farooq Tarakai.
The committee expressed concerns over delay in the development work, directed the authorities concerned to resolve the issues and expedite development work at the site.
Earlier, the officials of the OPF briefing the committee, said the development work of package-I, including roads, water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage, earth retaining structures culverts, bridge and footpaths are in progress.
They said to date 68% work has been completed at the site. They said that possession of land measuring 193 kanals was got vacated by OPF through negotiations.
The representatives of FWO has raised the issue of delay in payments of bills and expressed reservation over OPF agreement with another firm for executing survey.
