Keys, possession letters handed over


KARACHI - Karachi Affected Markets Relief Committee (KAMRC), government of Sindh, on Thursday organised 3rd ceremony to hand over 118 keys and possession letters to the victims of Ashura blast.The ceremony was held at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry where Sindh Agriculture Minister Ali Nawaz Shah was invited as chief guest.Speaking at the ceremony, he appreciated the joint efforts of the KAMRC and the KCCI team. The minister also distributed keys and possession letters to the affectees of various markets. Zubair Motiwala, chairman, KAMRC, and chairman, Sindh Board of Investment, expressed compliments to the minister and all the members of KAMRC for unanimous decisions and efforts for relief and rehabilitation of affectees. “We have almost completed the project and discharged our responsibility with due diligence. The project was given to the private sector by the Sindh government.” He informed that compensation of Rs1.38 billion was given to the affectees against their claims for loss of goods whereas 207 million were allocated for reconstruction and renovation of affected markets. KCCI President Abrar Ahmad stated that since December 28, 2009 tragedy till date, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry was committed to relief and rehabilitation of the affectees. He said that the project would be completed by May or June. The KCCI team assisted and performed relief and rehabilitation task with sincerity and devotion, he added and assured continuous cooperation of the KCCI to the affectees as well as the government. AQ Khalil, member and convener construction committee KAMRC, earlier gave a brief presentation on the reconstruction phase. He highlighted that the KAMRC has carried out quality construction work on modern lines and the government’s fund was utilised with honesty. For this reason, the government and affectees have appreciated and thanked the KCCI.Rafiq Jadoon, president Anjuman-e-Tajiran Bolton Markets paid tribute to the government and the members of Karachi Affected Markets Relief Committee. He requested the government to ensure timely release of funds to quickly complete the project.On the occasion, 118 keys and possession letters were distributed among the affectees of Quettawala Market, Mashallah Market, Ferozpurwala Market, Sualeh Market, Akbar Market, Tayyabi Market and Qutbi Market.
