KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has inaugurated Afza Altaf flyover, constructed with a cost of Rs 547.522 million, at the SITE Town, here on Sunday.

The flyover was a project of Sindh Industrial Trading State Limited (SITE Ltd). Its total length was 750 and width 16.2 meters. The project has enhanced a signal free corridor from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Ghani Chowrangi of SITE area that would also facilitate the residents of SITE and Baldia Town areas, besides businessmen community.

The flyover, having capacity of bearing 225 tonnes of traffic at a time, was completed in 132 days, while work was done in two shifts. It was the first flyover in the country having solar lights and latest colourful lightings.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ibad said that the flyover was a prolonged demand of our SITE friends. He said that Karachi is the largest city of Muslim world, besides this it was contributing a large part for the economy, development and progress of the country. He further said that the metropolis of Karachi, performing a role of economic hub, was also playing a significant role for maintaining the lifeline of poor. “So it was our duty to contribute in the development of the city,” he said.

He hoped that the flyover would become a facility for citizens. He congratulated the citizens for the completion of the project. He thanked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and appreciated the role of Sindh Industries Minister Rauf Siddiqui, officers and workers that remained engaged day and night for completion of project in time.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddiqui announced to pay salary of one-month as bonus to the employees of SITE Limited as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

Business community representative Siraj Qasim Teli thanked governor, chief minister, Siddiqui, officers and workers for their cooperation in regard with the project.
