LDA retrieves commercial plot

LAHORE - Lahore Development Authority (LDA) retrieved possession of a valuable plot situated along main road of Liberty Market on Sunday. LDA Additional Director General Maryam Kiyana supervised the 18-hour operation of reclaiming the corner plot measuring one kanal.

The LDA staff, led by Estate Management Director Muhammad Numan Khan, faced intense resistance by the land grabbers who had been unlawfully using this plot for many years. They had established a temporary market and had set up an illegal parking stand to charge parking fee. The LDA staff removed the temporary structure and built a boundary wall around the plot.

The police have registered a criminal case against five nominated and 20 unidentified persons for creating hurdles in official work, threatening LDA staff and displaying fire arms. Three of the accused were arrested on the spot. The police have also taken custody of a vehicle owned by land grabbers.
