Operation begins to remove encroachments from railways land

Karachi :The Karachi administration has launched an operation in the light of the Supreme Court verdict for removal of encroachments from the railway land in the city.

The anti-encroachment cell, assisted by the area police and supervised by Deputy Commissioner South Ganhwar Ali Laghari, Assistant Commissioner Harbour Junaid Rajput and other officials, razed 165 units established at 43560 sq. ft. in five kilometre long area from Wazir Mansion to Gul Bai Bridge during the operation, an official handout said on Sunday.

Commissioner Karachi Roshan Shaikh said that instructions had been issued to all the concerned departments to extend cooperation to the anti-encroachment cell for accomplishment of the task. The action would also be taken against the land mafia involved in disturbing the peace in the city.Meanwhile, another handout from chief secretary, Sindh’s office said that 30 acres of railway land had been retrieved as a result of the anti-encroachment operation in the city.
