CM asked to allot 300 acres in DHA to intelligence officials

President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the Sindh government to allot 300 acres in Phase 9 of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to the families of intelligence agencies’ officials who sacrificed their lives during the war on terror.
Disclosing this, officials told The News on Tuesday that the president issued this directive to Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during a high-level meeting held at Bilawal House to review the law and order situation in Karachi.
The land will be allotted in DHA’s Phase 9 for free. It is for the first time in the country that a government has recognised the services of the intelligence agencies and rewarded them.According to the officials, Zardari appreciated the performance of the intelligence agencies during the war on terror.

The role of intelligence agencies occasionally comes under severe criticism, especially for their involvement in politics and civilian matters. However, the recognition of the services of these institutions by a democratic setup indicates the nature of the working relationship between the agencies and the present regime.

Earlier, President Zardari had also directed the Sindh government to allot 1,000 acres to the families of armed forces’ personnel who were martyred during the war on terror. This land would also be provided for free to the families of 35,000 personnel in recognition of their services and sacrifices for the country.
