Rawalpindi Devlopment News : Mareer Chowk tunnel’s PC-1 sent for approva
Rawalpindi : The Mareer Chowk railway tunnel’s PC-I prepared by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has been sent to the Works and Housing Department for approval.
“The PC-I of the project, which will be completed at a cost of Rs500 million, has been prepared by the RDA consultants,” official sources in the authority told this agency.The 30-feet long tunnel would be constructed at the railways bridge for the traffic coming on the Benazir Road from the district courts side and Kashmir Road, the sources said.They expressed the hope that the funds would be allocated in the upcoming budget for the project.
They said Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has already given formal approval for construction of the tunnel to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the road.Commuters have to spend around 10 to 30 minutes time to cross the signal due to heavy traffic especially during the peak hours.
