ACE to probe land fraud case

RAWALPINDI, March 29: City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) on Thursday sent the case of three revenue officials allegedly involved in land
fraud to Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for investigation.

Three revenue officials transferred 450 kanals of state land at Malikpur Azizal near Kalar Syedan to Raja Zulfiqar and Manzoor Hussain Shah by tempering the record.

The case came into the knowledge of then Assistant Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa in December last when a citizen, Mohammad Nazar, lodged a complaint against the area Patwari for transferring the state land.

Mr. Jappa probed the issue and found that two Patwaris, Anwar Shah and Tasawar Abbas, with the help of Record Clerk Shakeel Ahmed tempered the land record and transferred it to two persons.

Upon this, assistant commissioner sent the case to District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar who constituted four-member committee headed by Additional District Collector (Revenue) Talat Mehmood Gondal comprising Additional District Collector (General) Saif Anwar Jappa, tehsildar and sub-registrar (cantonment).

After investigation, the committee found three revenue officials guilty and thus, the case was forwarded to Anti-Corruption Establishment for further action.

When contacted, Additional District Collector (General) Saif Anwar Jappa said that the committee forwarded its findings to DCO and the case had been
sent to Anti-Corruption Establishment.
