LDA to establish online system to safeguard public interests

LAHORE - Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahad Cheema has directed to formulate an on-line data base system, for the sale and allotment of plots by approved private housing schemes. The system, linked with the LDA website, will inform the masses to protect them from being defrauded.

Chairing a meeting to review the duties and responsibilities of LDA Metropolitan Planning Wing, here on Thursday, Cheema directed Chief Metropolitan Planner Waseem Ahmad Khan to provide details of mortgaged plots as well as public utility sites in all private housing schemes, to the Revenue Department for necessary entries in their record, in order to stop illegal transaction of property and to protect the rights of private buyers.

The DG further directed to kick off auction proceedings of plots, reserved for public utility buildings in the approved private housing schemes, so that provision of physical infrastructure and other basic facilities could be ensured to the residents.

He ordered to submit necessary draft amendments for imposing fine at the rate of Rs 10,000/- per kanal, per annum, for the total area of such scheme which failed to complete development work within the stipulated time period. DG LDA directed the Director Administration to make the newly established directorate of private housing schemes immediately functional. The directorate is responsible for the completion of development works in the private housing schemes which had been taken over by LDA, as per directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Directorate would work under the supervision of CMP.

Meanwhile, necessary staff has been posted in the newly established directorate of private housing schemes, on the directive of the DG.
