Poor sanitation on Airport Link Road irks public

RAWALPINDI: The residents of Shah Khalid Colony and surrounding areas on Airport Link Road have protested against the poor hygiene condition in the area, which is troubling them. Expressing resentment, residents complained that the surrounding localities of the Airport Link Road and service roads lacked proper sanitation system, while heaps of garbage were lying everywhere and no sanitary staff was deputed to remove them. The residents told INP that despite the movement of VVIPs on the route, the authorities concerned had turned a blind eye towards the troubling situation. Shoaib Ahmad, a resident of the area, deplored the slackness of the authority concerned, saying that despite repeated complaints, the said areas were not provided dustbins and containers for garbage disposal. The residents have demanded the Rawalpindi commissioner and DCO to take notice of the situation and instruct the tehsil municipal administration to pay attention to the cleanliness of the city.
