Work stepped up on incomplete flyover

RAWALPINDI - The construction work beneath the newly constructed Chandni Chowk Flyover is in the full swing.

The flyover was completed within the record time of four months and on Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the mega project on 12 March . After which it was opened for traffic.

But the work is uncompleted under the flyover where link road would be constructed to connect Rawal Road with Chandi Chowk. Moreover a U-turn would also be made there to facilitate the traffic. Now the speed of the work has been increased as Commissioner Rawalpindi division has issued instructions for the completion of it within one month.

Residents of the city have said that the billion rupees project would not ease the load of traffic on busiest Murre Road to a greater extent as when the vehicles coming from Islamabad would cross the bridge with good speed in rush hours but soon after landing on road they would found a bottle neck in front of Benazir Shaheed Hospital (formerly Rawalpindi General Hospital) and they would tangle in the mess near the main gate of the hospital. They said that problem would be resolved if the bridge would be constructed from Marrier Chowk to 6th Road.
