Roadside auto workshops create problems for pedestrians, residents

ISLAMABAD: Auto-mechanics in commercial areas of the federal capital have established workshops on footpaths and roadsides, creating hardships for both the motorists and pedestrians.

The mechanics park vehicles for repair on roadsides, which causes roadblocks and creates problems for residents.

Pedestrians now have no choice but to walk on the road, which is very risky for them and the roadside workshops are also tarnishing the beauty of areas they are set up in.

Owners of the auto workshops in commercial areas of Sector G-7 have not only encroached upon the roads but also occupied footpaths, leaving no space for pedestrians.

In the I and T centre in G-7, auto repairing business is continuing on the two lanes of the road along with the footpath.

The same is the case in I and T centre in G-9 and other areas of the capital.

Such a situation not only hinders traffic flow but also causes problems for residents of the locality.

The residents of sector G-7 said that the auto mechanics’ activities were increasing day by day and the whole area was giving an ‘ugly’ look.

The citizens have urged the civic bodies concerned to take action against the encroachers.
