Removal of encroachments from green belt demanded

ISLAMABAD: The residents of Karachi Company strongly protested against illegal occupation of greenbelt and footpaths by encroachers and land grabbers.

This is the busiest shopping centre of the federal capital and mostly government employees are living in the quarters, but the encroachers and land mafia have marred its beauty, they said.

Over 30 shops have been built in the greenbelt by the encroachers and the same way all the footpaths are under illegal occupation of the vendors and traders, residents said.

Structures and shops and hand-driven carts have occupied the greenbelt, making them filthy and useless.

This is all due to the connivance between the corrupt elements of CDA and the traders and vendors, said a citizen.

“We used to sit in the greenbelt to rest, but it is nowhere seen in this shopping center being occupied by Qabza Mafia,” said Yasmin Akhtar, a housewife.

Social and religious circles have demanded a clean-up operation against the encroachments in the greenbelt.
