Shahbaz gives away keys of AHS houses

LAHORE :The recipients of keys to Ashiana houses who included teachers, junior officials of the public and private institutions, widows and workers were all praise for the chief minister. A blind artist Aliya Rashid, who works at a private school, said that she could not even think of having her own house and she would now live in the housing scheme with her parents.

Another schoolteacher, Abid Shahzad, said no ruler ever worked for the poor during last 64 years and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the only one who had taken measures for their betterment and provided them with houses equipped with modern facilities.

A school employee, Samuel, said that he could not construct a house during his service and credit went to the Khadim-e-Punjab for providing shelter to the poor. He said the housing project was also unprecedented with regard to transparency as those who came for verification of the documents for the allotment of houses in Ashiana Housing Scheme did not have even a glass of water.

Liaqat Ali Khan of Chiniot said that he had applied along with his friends for a house in the housing scheme but could not believe that it was possible without bribe or influence. He said that though the rich had been availing facilities and privileges but no one had thought of the poor. An aged worker at a general store, Sajjad, was having tears of joy when he received the key.
