Rawalpindi—Rawalpindi Traffic Police (RTP) in coordination with departments concerned is taking action against encroachers and conducting special operations for removal of encroachments from the city roads aimed at resolving traffic problems of the city.

According to details, City Traffic Police with the help of Punjab Police, Tehsil Municipal Authority, Chaklala Cantonment Board and Rawalpindi Cantonment Board is running a special anti-encroachment drive while raids in various bazaars and markets of the town have been conducted during current month.

In this regard, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Ghulam Abbas Tarar had given additional charge of Inspector Encroachments to Inspector Headquarters. Inspector Encroachments in coordination with other departments concerned started anti-encroachment drive and cleared various city roads and removed encroachments which were hurdles for traffic.

Under the campaign, raids were conducted in several areas including Chungi No 22, Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Harlay Street, Kalma Chowk, Masrial Road, Westrage Bazaar, Dhoke Saydian Chowk and Glass Factory.
