Landline service down due to technical fault

LAHORE: The consumers of the country’s only landline operating service suffered on Tuesday, as the PTCL network remained down due to some technical fault. Some technical error occurred in the main exchange of the city, which led to the interruption in landline and mobile calls, sources in the company told Daily Times. The PTCL technical team failed to sort out the issue, while the company received many complaints of call dropping, constant distortion and misconnections. “I have registered my complaint twice with the helpline and personally visited the Customer Care Centre (CCC) of the company but the problem has not been solved,” said Rana Aslam, a resident of the Cantonment area, adding, “When a wrong call is made, the customer is charged without any reason”. Farooq Majeed, another landline caller, said that the problem had persisted for many days, but no action had been taken by the authorities. A large number of landline users have switched over to wireless and mobile phones, as they claim that the company has failed to provide a proper service. A senior official of the company, on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the problem had started many days ago. However, the technical team of the company would ratify the issue in the next few days, he added. hasan ali
